The Warrior by Opal F.

A frightened young soldier in a strange land in the heat of battle; he was trained to fight but may not fully understand.  He picks up his weapon and aims and fires at another soldier on the opposite side.  But, each on opposite sides and at the end of weapons fires and shoots with intent to kill and wipe out each other’s ideal of how the world should be governed.  But, someone has to fight so that the folks back home can remain free.  The young man ultimately gives up his life for you and me.

Rest in peace dear warrior.

Friendships by Cassie O.

Friendships are like the silver lining within a cloudy sky.

It’s the gently wipe of a teardrop from one’s eye.

A nice warm embrace of a hug

Similar to the sun rays bouncing on one’s face

On a cool winter’s day.

Untitled by T.

The sky is true blue

My feelings for you

Run parallel thru

My heart skips a beat

When I think of you.

Friendship Means by Opal F.

Friendship means that someone means you well and has your best interest at heart.

Even a stranger sometimes can make your day and give you a lift by being kind.

I don’t like selfish people and people that are all about themselves.

I guess I am a bit of a loner, but it feels nice to be in the company of kind and caring people sometimes.

I read an article once that said friendships are becoming more strained in modern society

and people when asked say that they have fewer friends and confidantes.

I do have a few people that I have known for 20+ years that I talk to on a regular basis, but I rarely ever see them.

A Lucky Strike by Iris C.

Have you ever put one in your mouth?

Isn’t it just dried leaves wrapped in white paper?

Do you use matches or a lighter?

Is it easy to set it on fire the first time?

Are you inhaling deeply into your lungs?

What does it taste like?

Have you tried blowing smoke rings?

What does your head feel like now?

How much will you pay for them and for the health of your lungs?

Where do you put it out when you are finished smoking it?

How do you, your clothes and surroundings smell?

Is it really wise to smoke cigarettes?

Keep on giving

Keep on living

The more we give

The more we live

I am going to make the rest of my life

The best of my life

Live is good

But food is great

Life is sharing with your true love

I share because it comes from above

What is my purpose in life

When it is nothing but strife?

Life gets hard but it can be beautiful

That’s what I have learned

The one best thing that I know is that my life is worth showing

Life is like a box of chocolates, you’ll never know what you’re gonna get.

Begin your day with thanks and prayerful praise

Look around you and up to the sun’s rays

Do not despair if it is a gray day

Because in your heart love will stay.

30 Pieces of Silver and A Kiss by Iris C.

He said to them, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.”
They were deeply grieved and asked, “Is it I Lord?”
Answering, “He who dips his hand with Me in the bowl is the one.”
Woe to him for it would have been better if he had not been born.
Judas asks Him, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi.”
“You have said IT yourself.”
So the time came for the betrayal.
Judas, after receiving the 30 pieces of silver, brought the chief priests and Elders to seize Him.
By a kiss, did Judas signify His Lord.
And they seized Him and took Him away.
Thus, the scriptures were fulfilled.
But Judas, seeing they condemned Him, felt remorse.
Throwing the silver onto the temple floor, he fled.

Fly robin fly, up up to the sky
I’ve helped you mend your broken wing.
You have shown me you are great.
This has been an escape for me;
Fly robin fly, up up to the sky.

My Friends Are by Willie B.

I myself and me

Are the best of friends

One’s best kept secret

is kept by yourself.

Me, I have known the best

And the rest I would say are friends of mind.
